MEHR: Iran’s chargé d'affaires in London has refuted accusations by the British media regarding an alleged Iranian plot to assassinate two international television presenters living in London.
In a post on X on Friday, Seyyed Mehdi Hosseini Matin rejected the claim by ITV News as baseless, likening it to a Hollywood movie scenario.
ITV News earlier published a report alleging that the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) had approached a human trafficker in October 2022, offering $200,000 to assassinate two international presenters in London.
However, the report alleged that the hired individual was a double agent working with a Western intelligence organization and exposed the conspiracy.
Regardless of the undeniable violent and destructive activities of this so-called television network in England against Iran's national security, we also deny any connection with those who have made these allegations, Matin said.
