Ahmadian, Patrushev discuss regional security, bilateral ties

The press service of the Russian Security Council said twe two top security officials "thoroughly exchanged views on issues of mutual interest, with a focus on the strategic priorities of the Russian Federation and the Islamic Republic of Iran. The interlocutors focused on issues of security in the Middle East and Central Asia, as well as the prospects of Russian-Iranian cooperation in countering challenges and threats to security of both states," Russian TASS news agency reported.
In addition, "the practical implementation of the summit level agreements was considered," the report added.
According to the Iranian media report in the meeting, a wide range of topics of interest to the two countries in the political, economic and security fields, including special attention to the fight against terrorism, information security issues, the problems of providing economic security to Russia and Iran under the pressure of Western countries' sanctions, as well as dealing with efforts to Interference in the internal affairs of independent countries was discussed and exchanged.
Also, thedevelopment of a new comprehensive long-term bilateral agreement was discussed and it was emphasized that the conclusion of this fundamental document will create a powerful incentive for further expansion of beneficial bilateral cooperation in all fields.
The talks were held in Bishkek ahead of a multilateral meeting of security council chiefs on Afghanistan.
