MEHR: The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says strong, vibrant elections are one of the pillars of proper administration of the country.
A group of Iranian first-time voters and families of martyrs convened a meeting with the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Wednesday morning.
The meeting takes place ahead of the parliamentary election in Iran that is scheduled for March 1, 2024.
Addressing a group of Iranian first-time voters and families of martyrs on Wednesday, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said that powerful and exciting elections are one of the pillars of the proper administration of the country.
Anyone who loves Iran, the Iranian nation, and security should know that weak elections will be to the detriment of everyone, Leader stressed.
If we can show the Iranian nation is preset in defining events, it means we have saved the country, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution noted.
National power supports national security. If the enemy feels that you are not capable, [and] the Iranian nation has no power, they will threaten your security in every way,” the Leader said, adding, “National security is all that matters. If there is no security, there remains nothing [else]. The enemy is opposed to our national power. Therefore, they oppose everything that is a manifestation of national power, including elections."
“I am not accusing anyone, but I remind everyone that we should look at the elections from the national interests perspective, not from factional and group perspective. If the election is weak, everyone will be hurt,” he added.
Ayatollah Khamenei further advised those who are reluctant to vote and discourage others from voting to “think a little more.”
“Not voting leads to no achievements and does not resolve the country’s problems,” he maintained.
