MEHR: The spokesman for the commander-in-chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces Major General Yahya Rasool has reacted to the US overnight attacks on the country's soil.
Saying that the town of al-Qa'im and the border regions of Iraq and Syria were targeted, Yahya Rasool stressed that the US attacks were a violation of the sovereignty of Iraq.
The airstrike would undermine Baghdad's efforts to stabilize the situation, he added.
He said the attack could drag Iraq and the entire region into a situation with terrible consequences and pose a real threat to security and stability in Iraq and the entire region, Rasool emphasized.
United States President Joe Biden has confirmed the US airstrikes on targets in eastern Syria and western Iraq in retaliation for the death of three soldiers died on Jan. 28, pledging that the attacks will continue.
