MEHR: Iranian foreign minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has stressed the need to stop the Israeli regime's crimes in Gaza as the only way to achieve regional stability and peace.

In separate phone calls with the European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell and his Egyptian counterpart, Sameh Hassan Shoukry on Thursday, the top Iranian diplomat reiterated Iran's call for an end to the Zionist Israeli regime's crimes in Gaza.

In phone conversation with Borrell, Amir-Abdollahian referred to the developments in Gaza, and emphasized the need to stop the war crimes committed by the Zionist regime and its killing and genocide of the Palestinian people and considered that a fundamental step in stopping the crisis in the entire region.

"Any coalition and convulsive actions similar to what the United States and the United Kingdom did in the attack on Yemen will not only not help restore stability to the region, but will also lead to a more complicated situation," he said.

He added that the Islamic Republic of Iran advises all parties to take immediate, effective and sustainable action by focusing on the main root cause of the crisis, because the crisis has roots in occupation.

Referring to the positive role played by Mr. Borrell, Amir-Abdollahian attached importance to continuing the dialogue in the path of diplomacy and crisis resolution through the existence of a strong and constructive dialogue channel between the European Union and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Expressing concern over the escalation of tension in the Red Sea, Joseph Borrell emphasized the role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in helping to restore stability to the region.

Referring to the European Union's decision to form a maritime alliance, the EU top diplomat pointed out, "This alliance is only for the protection of European commercial ships against possible attacks in the Red Sea and has no military purpose against any country."

In this conversation, the two sides pointed out the importance of dialogue in helping to restor regional and international stability and stated the necessity of maintaining the contact path at different levels between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the European Union.

Also, the two sides discussed the latest developments related to the nuclear deal.

 

Also, in a separate phone call, Amir-Abdollahian and his Egyptian counterpart paid attention to how the two countries follow up on the agreements reached between the presidents of the two nations.

"All countries should focus on the immediate cessation of war and crimes against Gaza and on a political solution to solve the crisis in Gaza and the West Bank," the foreign minister of Iran said as regards Gaza crisis.

In the end, the foreign ministers of the Islamic Republic and Egypt emphasized the importance of the collective efforts on the part the countries in the region to maintain stability and peace and considered the cessation of the war against Gaza as the key to establishing peace and stability in the entire region.
