Giving extra time to terrorists to harm Iran, Iraq, Kurdistan

Speaking at a joint presser with his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein on Wednesday, Amir-Abdollahian touched upon the issue of implementing the security agreement between Tehran and Baghdad, according to which the separatist terrorists in the Kurdistan region should be disarmed and relocated by September 19.

Saying that he had held important talks with Hussein regarding the security deal earlier on Wednesday, the top Iranian diplomat cited that Iran is very serious about maintaining the country's national security.

Expressing satisfaction regarding the efforts of the Iraqi side in disarming the terrorist groups, he said that the Iraqi foreign minister has announced good news in this regard and the next steps would be taken within the following days according to the security deal.

"Giving even one hour to the terrorists is detrimental to the security of Iraq, Iran, and the Iraqi Kurdistan region," he stressed.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the top Iranian diplomat thanked the Iraqi government and nation for hosting the Arabeen pilgrims.

He also hailed the action and cooperation of Iraq, Iran, and Saudi Arabia in criminalizing insulting the holy books, and sincerely thanked the high-ranking officials of Iraq and the Iraqi foreign minister in this regard.

Speaking about his negotiations with Hussein, Amir-Abdollahian cited that they have conferred on several issues including the economy, trade, tourism, science and technology, and industry. Several regional and international issues were discussed by the parties as well, according to him.

Saying that high-ranking Iraqi officials always play an important and constructive role in the issue of helping the talks to lift the US anti-Iran sanctions, the Iranian foreign minister cited, "We are grateful for the efforts of the Iraqi government."

Touching upon the environmental issues, Amir-Abdollahian called for resolving the issue of dust storms and dredging Shatt Al Arab as soon as possible

The Iraqi foreign minister, for his part, stressed that the constitution of Iraq does not allow the country's soil to be used to attack other countries.

"Security cooperation between Iraq and Iran is basically based on the constitution," he noted, adding that Baghdad is committed to this roadmap and is trying to reach the final goal.

"The goal is to disarm the terrorist groups on the border between Iran and Iraq. They will be transferred to a number of refugee camps, and this action will take place under the supervision of the United Nations and the High Commissioner for Refugees."

Hailing the favorable relations between Tehran and Baghdad, the top Iraqi diplomat called for resolving the disputes between the countries only through negotiation. 

He went on to say that his visit to Iran is taking place in the framework of expanding relations, adding that discussing the security agreement was among the goals of today's trip.

The roadmap drawn on implementing the security agreement will be completed in two days, he added.

The Iraqi foreign minister also called on Iran and Turkey to cooperate with his country to overcome environmental challenges and drought.
