Seyed Abbas Araghchi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who had traveled to Rome to attend the second round of indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States, held a telephone conversation with his Italian counterpart, Antonio Tajani, before returning to Tehran.
The top Iranian diplomat thanked the Italian foreign minister for Italy’s cooperation and coordination with Oman in facilitating this round of talks and described the negotiations as constructive and moving forward.
He emphasized that if realism and goodwill continue, there is a possibility of reaching a conclusion.
Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, for his part, expressed appreciation for Iran’s responsible approach and thanked Araghchi for briefing him on the outcomes of the day’s discussions. He also reaffirmed Italy’s readiness to assist in any way in the continuation of this diplomatic process.
The Rome talks marked the second round of indirect discussions between Tehran and Washington in recent weeks, with Oman playing the role of the mediator.
Talks were held at the residence of Oman’s ambassador to Italy, with both delegations stationed in separate rooms.
