MEHR: European Union’s coordinator Enrique Mora has approved of the International Atomic Agency (IAEA) monitoring of Iran's nuclear program, saying that there is no alternative to the Iran nuclear deal known as the JCPOA.
"As customary, #JCPOA was in the margins of the #UNGA2023 week. I met @Bagheri_Kani @USEnvoyIran Europeans and my conclusion is that #EU policy that only by reaching a comprehensive deal on concrete, fully verifiable nuclear limitations on Iran’s nuclear programme through ……" Mora wrote in a post on his X account on Saturday.
"Substantial @iaeaorg monitoring comprehensive sanctions lifting, provisions on nuclear cooperation to allow for Iran to have a solid, transparent nuclear industry, including research, has been fully vindicated," he also said
"You can call it JCPOA or thebestdealever, but there’s no alternative," the senior EU diplomat concluded his post.
In relevant remarks earlier today, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said that the 2015 nuclear deal can be revived and its parties will return to full compliance with their commitments if the US administration shows seriousness and gives up double standards.
The Iranian foreign minister further criticized the US administration for pursuing a contradictory approach to Tehran with "fundamental" differences in what the White House practices and what it preaches.
He slammed the Biden administration's continuation of the sanctions policy against Iran, saying, "Even simultaneous with the implementation of the recent agreement [with Tehran] on exchange of prisoners, the US administration carried out unconstructive sanctions measures and proved that it is not willing to correct its past wrong and ineffective behavior."
