German envoy summoned over accusations against Tehran

MEHR: Germany’s ambassador to Tehran was called to the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in protest at the “baseless accusations” a court in the European country has leveled against Iran.

The Foreign Ministry on Wednesday summoned German Ambassador Hans-Udo Muzel to convey Iran’s protest against the publication of news based on a baseless accusation in a German court against the Islamic Republic.

The director general of the Foreign Ministry’s Western Europe Department took the measure after an unacceptable move by the German Foreign Ministry to summon the chargé d'affaires of Iran in Berlin.

The German envoy was reminded that Iran has been a host and a haven for followers of divine religions for several centuries, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.

“Unlike some countries that have a dark history of systematically persecuting and slaughtering Jews, Iran has a very bright background in promoting the principle of coexistence, because respect for the followers of divine religions has a valuable place in Islam and the Iranian culture,” the Iranian diplomat said.

“We advise Germany to be careful about the traps set by the destructive movements, instead of making accusations against others and fulfilling the Zionist regime’s demands to create fake tensions to make up for its recent failures,” he added.

The German ambassador, for his part, stated that he would notify Berlin about the matter as soon as possible.
