Iran FM terms UNSC resolution on Gaza ceasefire a victory
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian says that the UNSC resolution on Gaza ceasefire is a political victory for the Palestinians.
MEHR: Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian says that the UNSC resolution on Gaza ceasefire is a political victory for the Palestinians.
The top Iranian diplomat made the remarks in a meeting with the Head of the Political Bureau of Hamas Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran on Tuesday.
The approval of the resolution is a belated yet positive action and is considered a political victory for the Palestinian nation as a result of their persistence, patience, and perseverance on the battlefield, Amir-Abdollahian said.
Saying that Haniyeh's visit to Tehran is an important event, Amir-Abdollahian assured the Hamas chief that this year's Quds rallies would be held more glorious.
He went on to say that despite committing unprecedented and innumerable crimes against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank, the Zionist regime did not achieve any of its declared strategic goals, and the United States and its allies, despite their full support to the Zionist regime, failed to realize their goals as well.
Despite the very difficult and painful conditions in the Gaza Strip, there have been many victories for the Palestinian people and Resistance, he continued.
The Hamas chief, for his part, said that despite the continuation of brutal and genocidal crimes by the Zionist regime against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, the Resistance and the Palestinian people are still standing strong.
He also hailed Iran's diplomatic effort in supporting Palestine during the Gaza war.
The Zionists consider the cessation of war to be a strategic failure for them and the first result is the fall of Netanyahu, Haniyeh said, adding that the US has not made any strategic changes in its positions and support for the Zionist regime so far.
Haniyeh also called for more serious and effective action by the Islamic countries and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to form an effective international movement to support the Palestinian nation.
Israel waged its US-backed war on Gaza on October 7 after the Palestinian Hamas Resistance group carried out a historic operation against the usurping entity in retaliation for the regime’s intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.
So far, the Tel Aviv regime has killed at least 32,142 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured 74,412 others.
Israel is intentionally starving the people in Gaza by blocking their access to food, a war crime under the Geneva Conventions and the Rome Statute.
