MEHR: The Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson reacted to the confirmation of Israel's genocidal crime by the UNHRC Special Rapporteur, asking countries and international bodies to hold to account the Zionist regime.
"The Zionist regime’s genocidal crime against the Palestinians has now been confirmed and clarified by the Special Rapporteur at the United Nations Human Rights Council," Nasser Kan'ani wrote on his X social account on Thursday.
"Now national governments and international political, legal bodies and institutions are not only going to be judged the world public opinion but also history. Will they live up to their human, legal, and historical responsiblity?" He stated.
Francesca Albanese, the special rapporteur on the human rights situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, presented a report entitled “Anatomy of a Genocide” to the UN Human Rights Council on Tuesday.
In the report, Albanese said there are clear indications that Israel has violated three of the five acts listed under the UN Genocide Convention in its war on Gaza.
The UN expert said that there were reasonable grounds to believe Israel has committed genocide in Gaza during its military campaign against Hamas. She said on said on Wednesday that she had received threats throughout her mandate.
Albanese said one of her key findings was that Israel's executive and military leadership and soldiers have intentionally "subverted their protection functions in an attempt to legitimise genocidal violence against the Palestinian people".
