The head of the Mashhad Municipality Fire Department said "The death toll from the Mashhad floods has increased to seven."
"2 people were pulled out of a car stuck in the water in the Enghelab (Revolution) Square, and a residential house in the Seyyedi district of Mashhad was destroyed after it was hit by major flooding, and unfortunately, a mother and four children died in it," Hamidreza Kafiniya said.
Muhsin Zakiriyan, the head of the Razavi Khorasan Red Crescent has said 12 people were missing while the search and rescue efforts were continuing last night.
As much as 38 millimeter of rain poured down in an hour on Wednesday in Mashhad.
